Dr Katie Caddick - Educational Psychologist
I have had the privilege of working as an Educational Psychologist for over 14 years, initially working for Cheshire West and Chester Local Authority for 8 years. I have subsequently been working as a Specialist Educational Psychologist for 2 private specialist settings, supporting children and young people with significant social, emotional and mental health needs. In this post, I work as part of a clinical team, using my enhanced skills in the areas of attachment, complex trauma, mental health, emotional wellbeing and understanding challenging behaviours.
In 2018 I diversified my role by returning to Local Authority work – as such I have had the pleasure of working with the Telford and Wrekin Educational Psychology team, on a part time basis. I thoroughly enjoy working with my link schools, both through case work and working at a strategic level, supporting them to fulfil whole school initiatives and development plans. My previous Local Authority roles as: ‘Primary SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects Of Learning) Lead’; key player in several mental health agenda’s (including the ‘Targeted Mental Health in Schools’ project); and Primary Teacher (for 4 years), continue to be useful in my current roles. I am particularly interested in working therapeutically with schools and children and young people, in order to achieve positive mental health across schools. I support children and young people’s development of learning by applying psychological theory to practice – I am passionate about finding strategies, interventions and recommendations that are effective, targeted and practical for a given scenario and setting.
